Rising from its restored 1940s heritage façade, this new 54,000 square foot 6-storey centre welcomes progressive businesses and brands who value enterprise, community character and smart economics.

The Lightworks Building will be a newly constructed, concrete and glass landmark rising from the revitalized structure of an original heritage building. Open, modern office space and character retail at street level will attract Vancouver’s creative class of businesses and customers.

Through the 40’s and 50’s, 22 East 5th Avenue was home to the Cemco Electric, makers of high-tech electrical components used in the Allied war effort in WWII. Art Deco crowns atop the building’s raised columns are echoes of this golden era of enterprise and style. The original structure was built in 1942, designed by H.H. Simmonds, architect of Vancouver’s iconic Vogue and Stanley Theatres. Through that time, the Mount Pleasant district became part of a surge of post-war industrial activity. This neighbourhood has always, and will continue to welcome
the kind of people who want to make history.

Iconic brands and tech companies have already staked their claim to Mount Pleasant. Independent businesses and restaurants feed the creative class. Olympic Village & False Creek South infuse the area with energy. The Cambie and Main corridors offer everything from fine wine, food and shopping to live music and home improvement. All located just across the bridge from the city core, with less congestion and at a significantly lower cost.

A typical workday may start with a commute by rapid transit, bike or even on foot. Fueled by organic coffee from an independent café and inspired by the area’s creative business network, productivity is natural. Dining options are abundant and varied, and easy access to transportation for offsite meetings downtown or beyond helps reduce down time.
